It’s the same writing again… One year has passed since the opening of Ghibli Park.

During that time, the park has experienced the usual boom in popularity immediately after the opening in Japan, the start of International Tickets sales, and changes in ticket sales methods due to the opening of new areas.

In this article, I would like to share with you the last 10 months of Ghibli Park’s closure dates and information about the surrounding area.

Basic information about Ghibli Park operating days

Before introducing each month regarding Ghibli Park’s holidays, let’s take down some basic information about the operating days.

It is quite a lot to summarize, so I will try to itemize it.

If you are looking at the calendar, you are probably familiar with the fact that 1. is closed every Tuesday.

The rule in #2. is that you should also have some idea of Japanese holidays when making your plans.

Number 3, the year-end and New Year holidays, can be said to be a vacation for all of Japan. Ghibli Park, which is also part of the Aichi Prefecture facilities, will be closed accordingly.

As for the long closure in No. 4, I believe this is partly in response to the opening of “Valley of Witches” and the change in ticket sales policy. Regarding #5, the consecutive closures in June, there was one in 2023. I guess it is because it is an off-season in Japan because it tends to rain and there are few consecutive holidays.

There must have been 1-2 times in 2023. One of those times was when there were delays in public transportation due to heavy rain.

Ghibli Park December 2023 Business Calendar

The point of December 2023 is the end of year closure. There are only a few days left… (^_^;)

During this period, the facility itself of the Expo 2005 Aichi Prefecture (Moricoro Park) where Ghibli Park is located is also closed, so even if you intend to visit the park purely for the park, you will not be able to enter.

Ghibli Park January 2024 Business Calendar

The month of January at Ghibli Park begins on the 4th. In Japan, it is called “the beginning of work” and official activities for the year begin.

Ghibli Park February 2024 Business Calendar

February 2024 has only 11 working days, so it is not clear that the information will be useful… (^_^;)

Ghibli Park April 2024 Business Calendar

This is also the beginning of a new school year in Japan, so it is a time for schools and companies to renew their structures.

April is also a time of spring in Japan, with high temperatures often exceeding 20°C (68°F) in the latter half of the month.

Be careful when making transportation and hotel reservations in late April, which falls during the long Golden Week holidays in Japan.

The 29th of April is a weekday, Monday, but it is a public holiday in Japan. Please keep in mind that there will be a large crowd.

Ghibli Park May 2024 Business Calendar

May is the second half of a long series of holidays starting in April (though 10 holidays in a row is still good^^;).

Reservations for the Shinkansen and hotels are difficult to obtain, and the subway, Linimo, and expressways are more crowded than usual when traveling from Nagoya Station to the Ghibli Park.

Since the 3rd through the 6th are consecutive holidays, please be aware of the crowds when making reservations and traveling.

On the other hand, after this long holiday weekend, May is the low season for Japanese travelers to prepare for their summer vacation.

Since June is also the season when Japanese do not travel, it may be relatively easy to make reservations, especially when staying in a hotel.

Ghibli Park June 2024 Business Calendar

The topic for June is that Ghibli Park will be closed from mid to late June.

Specifically, the park will be temporarily closed for 8 days from the 18th to the 25th. There are no holidays.

As mentioned earlier, June is the low season for travel in Japan, along with the period from late January through February.

This may be a relatively stress-free period for travelers to avoid the harsh summer heat.

Since it is a rainy season, you may want to purchase a folding umbrella at a convenience store or supermarket.

By the way, this holiday weekend through the second half of June was also in 2023. I went to Ghibli Park during this period and there were really no people there!

Depending on your point of view, this is a good time to visit Ghibli Park if you want to take pictures of the buildings even from outside the park.

July has a three-day weekend in the middle of the month, but the first half of the month is somewhat quiet for travel, continuing on from June.

Instead, schools are closed from around the 20th of July, so there are many children and families traveling together.

Since the summer school vacation in Japan is from the end of July to the end of August, many people travel especially in mid-August, making it difficult to secure transportation tickets and accommodations.

Also, be careful in July to protect yourself from the heat. Women in particular should consider carrying a parasol to protect themselves from the strong sun.

And most important of all, bring plenty of water, or if you don’t have any, buy some at Lawson, located just outside the Linimo station.

Ghibli Park August 2024 Business Calendar

August is… hot backslash. Please take precautions against the heat.

Then there is the timing when transportation and lodging will be crowded. In the case of 2024, many people will be on a long holiday weekend from the 10th to the 17th. Many businessmen and families are moving from the cities to their parents’ homes.

In particular, traffic congestion on expressways and the Shinkansen bullet train will be the same as in previous years, so if your travel takes place during this period, please take this into account in your calculations.

The 13th is the only day this August that is not closed on a Tuesday, due in part to the above connection.

Ghibli Park September 2024 Business Calendar

There are two holidays in September, the first from Saturday the 14th to Monday the 16th, and the second from also Saturday the 21st to Monday the 23rd.

However, the holidays here are not as crowded as in May or August, and are not even half as crowded as regular weekends and crowded long weekends.

What you need to watch out for is the weather.

As in late August, September is often visited by typhoons, and Ghibli Park in 2023 once announced a relief package for those who could not make it on time because of a typhoon that disrupted traffic.
